How long, on average, does a translation job take?

Actually, there is no such thing. Some jobs can be done within the day, some take longer. Over the years we have established a database of thousands of translators, speakers of dozens of languages, located in Israel and abroad. This wide database, combined with our experienced operational team, enables us to respond to our customers’ needs according to their time constraints, without compromising the superior quality of our work.

Why not use an independent, self-employed translator?

First of all, a lone translator is usually an expert in one or two fields. This requires the customer to seek a different translator each time a different specialty field is called for, sometimes within a single job or project. With us, every job or part of a job is handled by the appropriate desk.

Secondly, advanced technologies such as TM, professional graphic and DTP software help us produce top-notch deliverables that can live up to the exacting criteria of today’s competitive market and give you that decisive edge. Our top technologies are working for you.

And last but not least – the time factor. At the end of the day, we are all human. Unexpected problems, changes and surprises are part of life. Unlike the lone translator, we are well prepared for such contretemps and can come up with a solution, making sure your time-table is intact. It is also worth keeping in mind that a complex project often requires a complex solution. Achieving the best translation sometimes requires brainstorming, considering several solutions, and only then choosing the best, thus assuring a whole that is better than the sum of its parts.

What is localization?

With the opening of many world markets to competition, the world has become “a global village”. More and more companies and enterprises offer their services to customers in different foreign countries. Localization is far more than mere translation. It is in fact the re-creation of a new version of the product – be it a software application, website, online help or documentation – with all its components, so that it is suited, in terms of language, “look & feel”, mode of use and cultural context to the country of destination. This is complex work requiring top expertise and experience.

What are your rates?

Our rates depend on the complexity of the material and the scope of the job. Generally speaking, the price is based on the number of “units” of translated text. We do give discounts for large quantities of text or large projects. Please contact us with details of your job, and we will be happy to provide you with a detailed price-quote.

What is the price for one page?

A job is calculated on the basis of “units”, not pages. See below.

How do you calculate “a unit”?

One unit = 250 words in the target language (the language into which the text is translated). This is true for all languages excepting the following: For German, Bulgarian, Russian and Serbo-Croatian, the calculation is based on 1500 characters. For East-Asian languages (such as Chinese and Japanese) the calculation is based on 250 words in the source language.

The size of a unit, i.e. 250 words, is standard in the translation industry in the world. It is the equivalent of about 15 lines of text in Times New Roman font, size 12.

Please take into account that when translating from one language to another, the text often either “shrinks” or “expands”.
