A story of love, languages, and a small tape-recorded

This is the story of Hever Translators’ Pool, currently one of Israel’s leading translation, recording and transcription companies:

Aliza, then a WIZO employee, who speaks many languages, received a tape recorder as a gift from her father. And ambition.

With true enterprising spirit, pluck, and strong marketing instincts Aliza established Hever – together with her husband Yochanan, fluent in seven languages who was at the time doing translation and pro-Israel advocacy at the US Embassy in Tel Aviv. The same Hever that would later document some of the most significant events in Israel’s history.

Being first on the scene, deep familiarity with languages and cultures, and a long-term outlook contributed to the company’s fast growth.

In 1961, when the Eichmann trial took place in Israel, the budding company was approached by the Government of Israel to record and document the trial. Due to worldwide interest in this trial, it became necessary to translate the material into many languages.

The rest, as the saying goes, is history. The company’s reputation reached far and wide, work piled up, and the Goldmans began hiring employees in order to keep up.

Today, Hever Translators’ Pool is Israel’s leading translation company and has a sister-company – Hever Hon Enoshi (Hever Human Capital) – specializing in locating, hiring and placement of workers in a wide range of fields.

Aliza and Yochanan continue to come in to the office, fostering the family atmosphere and the dedication, and enjoying the sight of the firm which began with a small tape-recorder and nowadays is at the forefront of technology.
With today’s beat and yesterday’s soul.
